Microfiltration

Produce very high purity water to meet application standards.

We provide custom microfiltration filters that integrate with your current water treatment solutions or are a part of an entirely new water treatment system.

Microfiltration can be used in many applications such as cold sterilization of beverages and pharmaceuticals, clarification of juices/wine/beer, separation of bacteria from water, pretreatment upstream of RO, oil/water separation, effluent treatments, medical water, lab water, or any high purity water application. Our water filtration experts can answer any questions or concerns you have.

About Microfiltration

Microfiltration is a membrane filtration process which removes contaminants from a fluid by microporous membrane. The membrane pore size ranges from .1 to 10 micrometres. Microfiltration is different from reverse osmosis and nanofiltration because it does not require pressure and does not remove dissolved contaminants.

How microfiltration systems work.

Microfiltration is the process of filtration with a micrometre sized filter. The filters can be in a submerged configuration or a pressure vessel configuration. They can be hollow fibers, flat sheet, tubular, spiral wound, hollow fine fiber or track etched. These filters are porous and allow water, monovalent species (Na+, Cl-), dissolved organic matter, small colloids and viruses through but do not allow particles, sediment, algae or large bacteria through.

Microfilter systems must be correctly applied with adequate pretreatment to prevent frequent and / or irreversible membrane fouling.
